November, December at WUOG: Station Soirée, Screen Printing, and more!

Despite the threat of finals, WUOG kept on trucking, as over November we continued several old events, such as, station soiree, live in the lobby’s, while even creating some new traditions, like screen printing! Lastly we had our last days for staffs of the year, and said goodbye to some veteran Exec members, and DJs.

During the middle of November WUOG did its first ever DIY merch sale! Where you could bring any article of clothing, pay 5 bucks, and we would screen print the design on it. Hoards came piling into our lobby to bring some WUOG flair to their old t-shirts, and someone even brought their guitar case. We even had some pre-made merch, for people in a rush. As we hypothesized together which design we were going to pick, and where they were going to go caused everyone to be in a great mood, or it was just the ink flumes getting to us.

On top of our Merch Sale, Publications Staff, or Pubs staff also did a fun new pin design contest! These two designs were our finalists and both got printed.

In November we also did Seize the Airwaves, in support of Nuçi’s Space! Thank you everyone who came back to DJ! We enjoyed meeting you all, and hearing your old stories about how you used to run this place. Not only does Seize the Airwaves help with charity, it also helps connect us to the past, and meet some cool townies.

In December we had Station Soirée, which is essentially WUOG prom. This year was Cowboy themed, so we all came dressed up in our most western boots and cowboy hats. We had several events, which included our mixtape exchange, music staff’s brick giving, and awards! One of craft stations was CD case decorating, and where we secretly designed our friends CD cases, while trying not to ruin the surprise! We also had temporary tattoos, and a zine making station. Music staff’s brick exchange is an old tradition where our music directors paint the albums that we discussed over the semester onto bricks, and then give them away to staffers! We also gave out awards to the best shows and staffers, our best show was organic compound, which is live mixed music!

We also unveiled our new, old, banner which was given to us by Alumni, so thank you! Lastly we passed the torch to our new Exec board, who will be taking the reins January.
