Following the release of her 2024 album, “Trail of Flowers,” Sierra Ferrel began her Shoot for the Moon tour with a stop at The Eastern in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 9th. The show was sold out, as fans of all ages drove from all different areas of Georgia to marvel at the mix of classic and alternative bluegrass Ferrell can bring to the stage, along with her incredible stage presence and showmanship. Jake Kohn opened for this leg of the tour. Freshly 17 on the date of the Atlanta show, he has the classic voice of greats like Johnny Cash, who can go incredibly far in his career with his unique voice, especially for his age.
Sierra Ferrel kicked off the show with her latest and most energetic tracks, such as “Foxhunt” and “Dollar Bill Bar.” A charming aspect of Ferrel’s performance was her frequent pauses between songs to engage with the audience. At one point, she brought out a dancing stick man she had purchased from a local Atlanta Oddities shop, showcasing her playful side and her appreciation for the city. This personal touch added a unique flavor to the concert experience.
Sierra Ferrel’s showmanship was a standout feature of the concert. She created a cozy atmosphere by laying out rugs on the stage, inviting her band and herself to dance freely. She also showcased her versatility by frequently switching instruments to match the different sounds of her songs. A highlight of the show was her surprise costume change, which culminated in her using a bow to shoot an arrow into the stage backdrop, revealing a new scene. The concert concluded with an encore of fan favorites like “Jeremiah” and “In Dreams.”
Ferrell did an incredible job of making fans feel appreciated in little ways, like thanking them and having a mailbox at the merch booth where fans could write her fan mail and drop it in the mailbox. Also, shout out to her and her merch team for having unique merch items like mugs, refillable lighters, train whistles, etc. It was very refreshing to see merch options outside of the typical concert tour shirts/ sweatshirts. This concert never allowed for a dull moment as I enjoyed interacting with fellow concertgoers and dancing and stomping around the concert in my cowboy boots until the very last song.
