Athens Unplugged is returning this Friday, November 7 at Hendershot’s! The unplugged concert series inspired by the iconic MTV unplugged performances will feature intimate performances by artists local to Athens and Atlanta. With a lineup of pondgorl, Maggie FM of Lunar Vacation, and Zoe Bayani, those who attend are in for a treat.
Athens Unplugged is the brainchild of two music business students currently studying at UGA, Megan Dawson and Laura Duncan, who created the series as a class project but have continued running the series with it growing bigger each semester. The night will start at 8 PM with Athens locals pondgorl, known for their genre bending sound and DIY style of performance that have made them a favorite to open for bands in Athens. Atlanta local Maggie FM will follow with her first set in Athens as a solo act and a can’t-miss performance. As Lunar Vacation has grown in popularity selling out some of the biggest venues in Atlanta Maggie has quietly been working on a solo project combining folk and indie rock called Candy, Lights Orchids. Lastly, Atlanta indie-rock icon Zoe Bayani will close out the show for what will be an unforgettable night. She is coming off her latest single, “Hear Me,” a self released project that was put out at the end of September.
After the artists finish for the night, there will be a video component for all to enjoy. Be sure you don’t miss it!
