Hello and thanks for logging onto WUOG once again. I’m Robert Inskip and I’m at Foley Field right now getting ready to liveblog today’s game. Hopefully we can take your mind off your NCAA Basketball bracket if it has been completely eviscerated. Today we bring you the hardball version of The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. The Tigers dominated Friday night with a 20-3 win over the Dawgs. Georgia pitched much better yesterday, but fell once again to the Tigers by a score of 4-3. Today we have a much more sparse crowd and not as nice weather. It’d be nice to start a little later on Sundays, seeing as many Georgia fans attend church. Maybe Michael Adams said we’d be getting home too late for a school night if we started at 4:00pm. Just kidding…I’ll have to check up on this one.

Here are the starting lineups:

Auburn: 2B Justin Hargett, CF Creede Simpson, 1B Hunter Morris, DH Brian Fletcher, SS Casey McElroy, RF Tony Caldwell, 3B Dan Gamache, LF Justin Bryant, C Ryan Jenkins. LHP Grant Dayton.

Georgia: CF Zach Cone, LF Peter Verdin, 3B Colby May, 1B Chase Davidson, DH Brett DeLoach, RF Zach Taylor, C Carson Schilling, SS Levi Hyams, 2B Todd Hankins. RHP Jeff Walters.

Vanderbilt vs. Georgia Basketball Live Blog

Hello and Thanks for logging onto WUOG. I’m Robert Inskip and I’ll be bringing you Live Blog coverage of tonight’s men’s basketball game, in which the Dawgs will take on the 20th-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores. Vandy comes into this one with a 17-4 overall record, and a 6-1 record in the SEC, which puts them behind only Kentucky in the conference standings (UK is also 6-1 in the league, but defeated Vandy last week). The Commodores boast wins over Tennessee, Florida, Missouri, and Saint Mary’s among other wins. The Commodores have done the job with balanced scoring – four players average between 10 and 15 points. Those players are Jermaine Beal, A.J. Ogilvy, Jeffery Taylor, and John Jenkins.

Our Dawgs come into this one having lost three straight after that awesome home win over the Vols a couple of weeks ago. It’s hard to believe that this team has lost six of its last seven games considering how much better they are playing compared to last year. Several of these losses have come after the Dawgs built sizeable leads, including the previous two games at South Carolina and at home against Arkansas. The Dawgs now hold a 9-11 overall record and a 1-6 mark in the conference. That puts us last in the SEC East and ahead of only LSU in the SEC overall.

However, a win tonight would give the Dawgs their third win over a Top 20 team (the other two being Georgia Tech and Tennessee) this year. And if you happened to watch College Gameday at Illinois this morning, you saw fans from another team that we beat. So there is hope and that feels good. It would also be great to pick up a win before we head back out on the road, and pick up steam for the home stretch. I can hardly wait to get home games against the Gators (2/27) and Wildcats (3/3) in the same week. But tonight let’s focus on Vandy.

The Dawgs split the season series with the Commodores last year, losing 40-50 in Nashville before notching a 61-57 win at home.

The game is set to start at 8 ET. I am permitted to update five times per half. Please leave a comment or question below if you wish to do so. Enjoy the game!

Starting Linups

Vanderbilt: Jermaine Beal, Brad Tinsley, A.J. Ogilvy, Andre Walker, Jerffery Taylor

Georgia: Travis Leslie, Dustin Ware, Ricky McPhee, Trey Thompkins, Albert Jackson

Hello and thanks for logging on to WUOG! I’m Robert Inskip and I’ll be taking care of our Live Blog coverage for the Dawgs and Vols. Tip off is at 5:00. The game is a sellout so you can just follow along with me…the next best thing! After picking up a huge win over then #20 Georgia Tech on the 5th, the Dawgs have dropped three straight SEC contests – at #3 Kentucky, vs. #21 Ole Miss, and at Mississippi State. The most recent was perhaps the most painful, as the Dawgs held a double-digit lead at halftime over the Mississippi State Dawgs.

The Vols, meanwhile, have climbed all the way up to #8 in the rankings in what has been quite an emotional month for the program. On New Years Day, a gun and drug related arrest occurred that led head coach Bruce Pearl to dismiss start guard Tyler Smith from the program, and suspend three other players. On the court, however, the Vols have reeled off seven straight wins, including a win over then top-ranked Kansas. Oh yeah and some guy named Kiffin left. So it’s been quite an emotional roller coaster for Vols fans. But at least Knox County is a safer place now and they’ve got a top 10 basketball team.

It’s nice to feel a buzz back here in Stegeman. Let’s hope the Dawgs can deliver. Just saw Mark Richt walk in. Word is Matt Stafford got tickets as well. On a more depressing note there is a fair number of neon orange clad people seating behind me in the upper level. This of course is another reason the Dawgs need to deliver – so I don’t have to have “Rocky Top” drilled into my brain all evening.

Kentucky vs. Georgia Live Blog

Hello. I’m Robert Inskip and I’ll be taking care of our Live Blog coverage tonight. It’s Senior Night in Sanford Stadium tonight as the Dawgs play host to the Kentucky Wildcats. It’ll be the last time playing between the hedges for Jeff Owens, Geno Atkins, Kade Weston, Joe Cox, Prince Miller and eighteen other seniors. Whether or not this will be the last home game for Rennie Curran and Rashad Jones remains to be seen. It won’t be the last for A.J. Green, but the Dawgs will be without him tonight as he recovers from a shoulder injury suffered against Auburn last week. On defense the Dawgs will be without Bacarri Rambo, the redshirt freshman safety whose play has earned him more and more playing time as the season as progressed. He had not been playing nearly enough if you ask me. Rambo suffered a concussion on his touchdown saving hit in the final minutes against Auburn last week.

In Green’s absence, look for Israel Troupe to build on his breakout performance from last week. Also look for true freshman Rantavious Wooten to see increased action. In Rambo’s absence, Makiri Pugh and Quintin Banks could see more time.

For Kentucky, the top player to watch has to be Randall Cobb, who is one of the most versatile players in the SEC. The sophomore is officially listed as a wide receiver, but will sometimes take snaps at quarterback. He is also a punt and kick returner for the Cats, and serves as the holder for field goals and extra points. Sounds like Champ Bailey or Hines Ward when they were Dawgs. When Cobb isn’t taking the snaps, Kentucky’s quarterback will be true freshman Morgan Newton, a big and athletic player who was one of Kentucky’s top prizes in its recent recruiting class. On defense, watch cornerback Trevard Lindley, one of the best at his position in the conference. It would have been fun to see him and A.J. matchup. Also watch Micah Johnson, a linebacker for the Cats who like Lindley, is on the watch list for several national awards.

Both teams come into the game with 6-4 records, as both became bowl eligible with wins last week. For Dawgs, the Music City Bowl, Liberty Bowl, Chick-fil-A Bowl, and Outback Bowl all remain apparent possibilities. While the SEC division titles have been sewn up for a while, a lot is still up in the air in terms of bowl destinations for teams behind Bama and Florida.

Many fans have shown up in black to night to honor the UGA VII, who died suddenly of a heart attack this week. I already miss seeing a white bulldog strutting around down there before the game! A moment of silence was held in his honor.

I am permitted to update three times per quarter. Kickoff is at 7:45. Thank you for logging on to WUOG and enjoy the game!

Hello and thank you for logging onto WUOG. I’m Robert Inskip. I’ll be taking care of our Live Blog coverage from Sanford Stadium tonight, where #17 Georgia hosts Arizona State for a 7:00 PM kickoff. I am permitted to post three times per quarter, plus once at halftime. It looks like this game will have some very messy weather conditions, as has been the case for many games in the Southeast today.

Arizona State remains a bit of a mystery to college football fans, having played only Idaho State and Louisiana-Monroe with a bye week in-between those games. They’ve put up gaudy numbers thus far (both games were blowout wins), but this is their first test against a BCS conference team. The Sun Devils will be trying to avenge a 27-10 loss to the Dawgs in Tempe last season.

One of the biggest concerns from the Georgia side of things this year has been the struggling pass defense. The Dawgs cannot expect to keep coming up with wins if they continue to give up numbers like the ones that Stephen Garcia and Ryan Mallett posted against them over the past couple of weeks. Having said this, the weather will surely make passing more of a struggle for both teams.

When Georgia has the ball, Dawg fans will be keeping a close eye on the tailback situation. Richard Samuel has started in all three games this season, but some fumbles by Samuel and Caleb King’s return seem to have made the tailback competition a bit more interesting. Don’t forget about redshirt freshman Carlton Thomas either.

Special teams in general have gotten off to a great start for the Dawgs this year. Drew Butler has shined as the starting punter, Brandon Boykin has provided electrifying kickoff returns, and Blair Walsh has been perfect on field goals. Some big plays on special teams will likely be even more crucial under these kinds of conditions.

The rain continues to fall here at Sanford Stadium. It has been very heavy at times. A lightening warning was displayed on the big screen a bit earlier, but we are still scheduled to kickoff at 7:00. The students have been present in solid numbers for some time now in the lower level seats.

Thanks again for joining us. As usual, please feel free to post comments about the game below. Enjoy!
