Hey everybody. Thanks for making your way over to the WUOG sports blog (although you should probably be outside or something.  It’s a gorgeous day).  I’m Jason Lind, the sports blogger taking the nation by storm.  Today, the Georgia Bulldogs take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in an SEC matchup.

The Dawgs come in to this one 11-13 overall, with a 3-8 conference record.  Georgia comes off a 69-60 loss in Knox Vegas to the Tennessee Volunteers.   It was yet another game showcasing the Bulldog’s undeniable talent, but lack of experience and ability to finish. We’ll see if they can keep the turnovers to a minimum and maintain a strong presence in the post.

On the other side, the Crimson Tide are 14-11 overall and 4-7 in the conference.  They come well rested off a 73-68 comeback win over Arkansas a week ago.  It was a win the Tide desperately needed after four straight losses. (more…)

Update: Final- UGA 64, SLU 56: The Billikens have a little fight left in them. Kwamain Mitchell puts in another three to draw St. Louis within seven, 63-56.

Jeremy Price gets fouled with about 15 seconds left, and hits one of two free throws, making it 64-56.

At this point, I’m sure you can guess how this one finishes. The Billikens come storming down the court, but for some reason run a set play that takes a solid 10 seconds to execute. They throw up a baseline jumper, but it doesn’t fall. Georgia gets the rebound and the victory.

Five Georgia players were in double figures tonight. Dustin Ware led the team with 17 points. Jeremy Price added 14. Kwamain Mitchell led the Billikens with 16. Willie Reed was close behind with 14. (more…)

It’s a cloudy Saturday evening over Sanford Stadium in Athens as the Georgia Bulldogs get ready to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks.  This is WUOG’s first edition of the live football blog. I’ll be providing three updates every quarter, with one at halftime. Fell free to leave any comments on the blog during the game if you have any questions.

South Carolina comes into this matchup 1-0 after gutting out a 7-3 victory against North Carolina State.  The Bulldogs are 0-1, coming off a 24-10 loss at the hands of Oklahoma State.  Both teams will be looking for drastic improvements in their offenses.

Joe Cox will get the start for the Bulldogs, despite talk earlier in the week of an injury.  Look for running back Caleb King to see some carries tonight for Georgia as well.  On the South Carolina side, quarterback Stephen Garcia will try to execute coach Steve Spurrier’s offensive attack with more precision than last week. Garcia threw for only 148 yards and had an interception against NC State.  This game could shape up to be a low-scoring affair. (more…)
