2nd Quarter Stats, Notes and Highlights: Georgia 21, Miss State 3

- Georgia’s opening drive in the second quarter began at their own 19 yard line.

-Aaron Murray is looking sharp in the first half, and it seems like we are seeing the beginning of a blossoming connection between Murray and freshman receiver Malcolm Mitchell.

-It’s early in the second and the offense is looking great as Murray is doing a great job of spreading out the ball between his receivers. There has been a nice balance between the ground game and air attack.

- Georgia’s opening drive of the second quarter was halted by a Nickoe Whitley interception at the 20 yard line.

-After it looked like Georgia had Mississippi State pinned in their own territory after the interception, the 6-foot-4  QB Chris Relf held on the ball for a 14 yard gain. But linebacker Cornelius Washington put an end to the drive with his second sack of the afternoon. Relf was dropped for a 6 yard loss at the 38 yard line.

- The resulting drive by Georgia ended with an interception by linebacker Cameron Lawrence setting up Miss State in Georgia territory at the 28.

- No harm no foul, Relf’s pass was intercepted by cornerback Sanders Commings, who had a 16 yard return to the 19.

-After the Commings interception, Georgia appears to be leaning heavily on Isaiah Crowell.

- Murray and the offense rebounded nicely with a 8 play 81 yard drive that was capped by a Carlton Thomas 7 yard touchdown run.

-With 28 seconds remaining in the half, Georgia took a knee and a 21 to 3 lead into halftime.

3rd Quarter Stats, Notes and Highlights: Georgia 24 , Miss State 3

- Georgia opens the second half on offense, and we will be looking to see if the offense can maintain any momentum from the first half.

- Georgia’s opening drive did not amount to much, resulting in a 44 yard punt by Drew Butler. Mississippi State will begin at their own 28.

-The defense remains strong, as Jarvis Jones had his second sack of the afternoon resulting in a 3rd and 17 for Miss State. Swedenberg would eventually punt a 53 yard punt from the 34.

- After an 11 yard punt return from Brandon Smith, the Bulldogs will open their second drive of the game from the 24 yard line.

- The resulting drive for Georgia ended with a 44 yard punt by Drew Butler  from the 34 yard line.

-After stopping the Mississippi State offense on their second drive of the half, Georgia was able to capitalize on a muffed snap on a punt attempt and begin their second drive of the game from Miss State’s 14 yard line.

- Not being able to capitalize from great field position, the Bulldogs attempted to settle for 3 from Blair Walsh but Georgia muffed their own snap and Walsh was unable to get an attempt off.

- An Arceto Clark reception resulted in  fumble forced by cornerback Brandon Boykin at the Mississippi State 22 yard line, cornerback Sanders Commings recovered the ball for the Bulldogs and returned it 7 yards to the 15.

-Unable to punch it in, the Bulldogs had to settle for an 18 yard field goal by Blair Walsh. Georgia is now up 24 to 3.

-The third quarter came to an end, after a John Jenkins tackle in the back field resulting in a 2 yard loss. Mississippi State will open the fourth quarter with a second and eight in Georgia territory on the 35.

-Possibly the biggest highlight from the third quarter may have been the appearance of third string Mississippi State quarterback Dylan Favre, the nephew of former NFL great Brett Favre. Favre did not complete a pass and rushed for no yards.

-After an exciting first half, the game has seemed to slow down thus far.

4th Quarter Stats, Notes and Highlights: Georgia 24, Miss State 10

-After an unsuccessful 4th down attempt from the 30, Georgia will take over for their first offensive possession of the quarter.

-Georgia’s first possession of the quarter resulted in 7 for Miss State as Aaron Murray was picked off by Darius Slay who had a 72 yard return for a touchdown.

- With 2:59 left in the ball game, a 48 yard field goal attempt by Walsh was no good.
