Georgia Football 2011: Recap of a busy off-season
ATHENS, Ga — A lot has happened since the Georgia Bulldogs last took the field in a college football game last December against Central Florida, and I mean a lot.
Below is the list of the attrition that has happened to the Bulldog football team.
Before I get to the additions and losses heading into the 2011 season, something needs to be mentioned that didn’t happen, and it will probably surprise some people.
During the off-season, NO Georgia football player was arrested. That’s right, NO Georgia football player was arrested.
Back to the losses and additions.
LOSSES:
–Wide Receiver A.J. Green and oustide linebacker Justin Houston left early for the NFL Draft,
–Offensive tackle Trinton Sturdivant suffered another ACL injury and will be sidelined for the 2011 season
–Running back Washaun Ealey transferred to Jacksonville State
–Linebacker Nick Williams transferred to North Alabama
–Offensive linemen A.J. Harmon transfered to Alabama State
–Offensive linemen Tanner Strickland graduated early
–Defensive end Jeremy Longo was medically disqualified
–Wide receiver Logan Gray transferred to Colorado
–Freshman offensive linemen Brent Benedict transferred to Virginia Tech
–Running back Caleb King was ruled academically ineligible
–Frehman linebacker Brandon Burrows will miss the entire season due to injury to his shoulder.
ADDITIONS:
–Running back Isaiah Crowell, nose John Jenkins, outside linebacker Ray Drew, tight end Jay Rome, wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell and many other recruits announced their decisions to attend Georgia.
–Although he was enrolled at Georgia last year, outside linebacker Jarvis Jones will be eligible to play this year after transferring from USC. He is projected to be the starting outside linebacker.
–Mark Richt hired two new assistant coaches; Inside linebacker coach Kirk Olivadoti and O-line coach Will Friend.
