The Georgia Bulldogs were beat by the Washington Huskies 68-65 in the second round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament.

It was a frustrating end to a frustrating season. However, it was not a disapointing season at all. Dissapointing implies that we are used to having success.

It’s frustrating because this team has so much talent, but they ran into a Washington team that will give North Carolina a run for their money.

From where this program was just a couple years ago, it is amazing the job that Mark Fox has done at the University of Georgia.

Here are some quotes from players and Mark Fox following the loss to Washington:

TREY THOMPKINS (On the tempo of the game):
“You have to give Washington credit. They know how to score the basketball. We know how we’ve played all season and we were going to stick to it.”

TREY THOMPKINS (On Washington):
They ‘re a team that scores in bunches. They know their strengths; They like to play the game fast paced. They came out in the second half and started knocking down shots. They were contested, but that just goes to show the quality of their team”

TRAVIS LESLIE (On making the NCAA tournament):
“It’s an honor and privilege. Everyone wants to make the tournament. You’re here for a reason and there’re a lot of good teams here. Tonight just didn’t go our way.”

CHRIS BARNES (On the game):
“Unfortunately the ball did not bounce our way and we ended up losing by three to a very good Washington team.”

CHRIS BARNES (On the second half):
“We did not start the second half off well. We had to fight and claw to try to get back into it.”

MARK FOX (Opening statement):
“That was a hard fought game. We felt like we could control temp we could have a chance to win. Washington made the plays in the second half and we lost to a good basketball team. There’s no shame in that.”

MARK FOX (On Washington):
“We lost to a good basketball team tonight, there is no shame in that.”

MARK FOX (On costly mistakes):
“In basketball, once you understand the consequences of little things, you realize that there are not little things. A lot of little plays that when we go back and watch the tape that were extremely costly and the consequences were grave.”

MARK FOX (On Jeremy Price):
“We couldn’t get Jeremy Price going, He’s a great kid and he got in foul trouble. We needed him to score a little more for us. We just weren’t balanced enough there early. So they were able to push us out. You got to credit their defense; they put pressure on us and got us out of some things.”
