Who needs a Summer Job? Lets Gamble.

Picks! Picks! Step right up and get your picks! Phew, it’s been a long time since I’ve been able to gamble…er write about gambling. For those returning starters who haven’t been suspended, you know the drill. For the replacement parts, dubbed Butch Davis’ squad, it’s fairly simple. Each week I go up and down the SEC picking each game against the spread, unless a team is playing a high school team (which is why there wasn’t a column last week — virtually every spread was 20 points plus). I usually toss in gambling tips here and there with rumblings that I hear from Vegas, friends and writers from around the SEC — and my own bias. Often times I’ll cheat and go with an over/under play to recoup my losses. Last years total ATS was…well I don’t remember. But I know I went 30-22 before the last week and that’s as far as the crack research team went back. (more…)

There’s No Tiger in Team

Posted by: James Carr

Normally, the selection of Tiger Woods to the US Ryder Cup team would go relatively unnoticed: the world number one would have previously been a given. In fact, he typically wouldn’t even be “selected”, as in years past he would have automatically qualified. But this year, as we all know, has been a very different year for Woods. (more…)

Georgia vs. ULL Live Blog

Welcome to Sanford Stadium!!! Feels fantastic to be back in here… life without football for eight months is excruciating. Don’t have my usual pregame notes as I’m running a bit late from the WUOG Tailgate show so lets just get right into it. This live-blog won’t be the traditional blog you’re used to seeing from WUOG because of the vast difference in ability on the field. Tid bits, thoughts and bias observations. (more…)

It’s almost Saturday in Athens…and there’s another player arrested

Posted by: ebowman
Sep 03 2010 12:58 pm

Players are getting arrested left and right here at UGA. We’re up to nine since March of this year. The newest Dawg to hit the impound is freshman safety Alec Olgetree. Apparently Olgetree stole a scooter helmet on June 15. Such a stupid crime. If you’re gonna steal at least make it worthwhile. A 35 dollar helmet? Dude, just ride around with your football helmet.

Why o why Mark? Why can’t you get these players in control? I know it’s impossible for you to hold their hand like a little child but at this point it should be no more mister nice guy. Lay down the law coach. That way these players won’t get in trouble with the real law. Make an example out of this freshman. Because clearly the message is not getting through to your players. Step your game up coach and lay d0wn the hammer. Or is discipline just not in your vocabulary? I’m not one for saying Richt is on the hot seat but if these arrests keep occurring the new AD Greg McGarity won’t stand for it and changes will be made. Anyone else cool with putting them on house (or dorm) arrest for the holiday weekend?

Arrests aside there is a football game tomorrow. Granted it’s a cupcake game against ULL the Bulldawg nation is still geared up to enjoy a good weekend in Athens. Things to expect on Saturday: Less trash…on North Campus. More trash on Myers quad. Actually it won’t be much of a quad after Saturday. More like a mud pit. Also, don’t expect to see a ton of new 3-4 D. Grantham will keep it simple with his play calling as to not give away too much for next week’s game in Columbia. Do expect to see Aaron Murray put smiles on the 92,000 plus people in Sanford Stadium around 12:45pm. (Kickoff is 12:21pm) A sold out crowd for a consecutive 58 games will thoroughly enjoy that football is back when they see Murray and AJ Green hook up for the first TD of the game.

Another thing to look forward to on Saturday is Uga, our beloved mascot. Scratch that, the new Uga is not ready for action yet so you’ll see Russ on the sidelines. I say let him have his fun and give him the whole season. So he’s got some brown spots, who cares. Diversity is a good thing.

Have a great Labor Day weekend and let’s hope no other players get arrested over the holiday.
