Vanderbilt vs. Georgia Basketball Live Blog
Hello and Thanks for logging onto WUOG. I’m Robert Inskip and I’ll be bringing you Live Blog coverage of tonight’s men’s basketball game, in which the Dawgs will take on the 20th-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores. Vandy comes into this one with a 17-4 overall record, and a 6-1 record in the SEC, which puts them behind only Kentucky in the conference standings (UK is also 6-1 in the league, but defeated Vandy last week). The Commodores boast wins over Tennessee, Florida, Missouri, and Saint Mary’s among other wins. The Commodores have done the job with balanced scoring – four players average between 10 and 15 points. Those players are Jermaine Beal, A.J. Ogilvy, Jeffery Taylor, and John Jenkins.
Our Dawgs come into this one having lost three straight after that awesome home win over the Vols a couple of weeks ago. It’s hard to believe that this team has lost six of its last seven games considering how much better they are playing compared to last year. Several of these losses have come after the Dawgs built sizeable leads, including the previous two games at South Carolina and at home against Arkansas. The Dawgs now hold a 9-11 overall record and a 1-6 mark in the conference. That puts us last in the SEC East and ahead of only LSU in the SEC overall.
However, a win tonight would give the Dawgs their third win over a Top 20 team (the other two being Georgia Tech and Tennessee) this year. And if you happened to watch College Gameday at Illinois this morning, you saw fans from another team that we beat. So there is hope and that feels good. It would also be great to pick up a win before we head back out on the road, and pick up steam for the home stretch. I can hardly wait to get home games against the Gators (2/27) and Wildcats (3/3) in the same week. But tonight let’s focus on Vandy.
The Dawgs split the season series with the Commodores last year, losing 40-50 in Nashville before notching a 61-57 win at home.
The game is set to start at 8 ET. I am permitted to update five times per half. Please leave a comment or question below if you wish to do so. Enjoy the game!
