I’m still so offended by that three point offering McPhee barfed up at the end of the game that I’m shirking the post-game with Coach Fox. I don’t really think much more can be said about this performance. But, if you want to hear more, there’s some of my thoughts after the break. (more…)

The Stegosaurus is a rockin’ and the Hogs will come a knockin’ tonight as Arkansas 10-11 (3-3) takes on your Georgia Bulldogs 9-10 (1-5) in an SEC matchup. I’m Kirk Carter and I’ll be liveblogging tonight’s action for all of you.

With a win tonight and some lucky bounces, Arkansas could find itself on top of the SEC West by the end of the night. Meanwhile, Georgia wants to get its 2nd SEC win after a tough road trip against Florida and South Carolina.

Hate to interrupt your signing day, but there is a basketball game taking place in Stegeman Coliseum tonight. The Bulldogs are looking for the home court to relieve the sting of an 0-2 SEC road trip. Georgia is 9-2 on their own floor and will be welcoming Arkansas into the Stegosaurus tonight.

Arkansas has not won in Athens since 2000, but they lead the all-time series 15-10. Dawg fans will remember that Georgia upended Arkansas en route to an SEC Tournament title and birth in the big dance just two years back.

As usual, I’ll try and supply you with a little info and some ammo about the Hogs. And for all of my loyal fans, I’ll also be blogging the game tonight as well. (more…)

The stories behind signing day

Its National Signing Day. For a lot of people, its a really really big deal. Just look at the scores of people that took off work to pack out gathering places in order to watch a high schooler put a hat on.

Times have certainly changed how fans, coaches, and players perceive the recruiting process. Sites like Rivals.com have made recruiting a 24-7 phenomenon. Five-star recruits become teen-aged saviors to programs across the country.

So far today, we’ve been subjected to numerous players picking from a random assortment of hats. Some call it showboating, some call it a good show… but what would Mark Richt do?

Surprisingly, our typically stoic coach would probably be doing it too and thinks some of those old-timers would be putting on the same show if they were in the same positions.

However, there is a lot more to football recruiting than musical hats and the hubbub down at Butts-Mehre. The road leading up to signing day is a rocky one for both coaches and athletes.
