What Lane Kiffin’s departure means for the SEC East
If any team seemed poised to take hold of the SEC East in the post-Tebow era, it was Tennessee. Kiffin had assembled a surefire top 5 recruiting class and showed shades of things to come in close losses to the Gators and Alabama last season. But, with Lane Kiffin sneaking out of Knoxville in the dead of night, those visions of grandeur seem to be on hold.
Over the past two months, the eastern half of the nation’s best football conference has seen its share of turmoil. Florida DC Charlie Strong left for Louisville. Georgia DC Willie Martinez left for… well, who cares. More importantly, Urban Meyer left for something, but he still seems to be hanging around Gainesville.
In the SEC, one team’s loss is another team’s gain. But who really gains from Kiffin’s departure? (more…)
