Update: Final- UGA 64, SLU 56: The Billikens have a little fight left in them. Kwamain Mitchell puts in another three to draw St. Louis within seven, 63-56.

Jeremy Price gets fouled with about 15 seconds left, and hits one of two free throws, making it 64-56.

At this point, I’m sure you can guess how this one finishes. The Billikens come storming down the court, but for some reason run a set play that takes a solid 10 seconds to execute. They throw up a baseline jumper, but it doesn’t fall. Georgia gets the rebound and the victory.

Five Georgia players were in double figures tonight. Dustin Ware led the team with 17 points. Jeremy Price added 14. Kwamain Mitchell led the Billikens with 16. Willie Reed was close behind with 14. (more…)

I’ll indulge James and get the speculation started off right. Everyone with a pulse seems to be mentioned for the job at Georgia. While some names have a lot of merit, others are incredibly unlikely. I won’t try and discredit anyone’s abilities, but I will try and point out the coaches who won’t even sniff the job. Keep reading after the break to learn a little more about the folks who could become the savior of Georgia’s defense. (more…)

Willie Martinez was fired as Georgia’s defensive coordinator this afternoon. Defensive end Coach Jon Fabris and linebacker Coach John Jancek were also released. Coach Richt sent out a statement saying, “I cannot express enough my thanks to all three for their contributions to our program,” said Richt. “However, in the final analysis I’m charged with providing the leadership and direction for the Georgia program and sometimes that means making difficult  decisions.  This was one of them.”
