Georgia vs. Wofford Live-Blog

Posted by: James Carr

Welcome to the official WUOG Georgia vs. Wofford live blog. I’m James Carr and I’ll be bringing the heat 5 times per half. We’ve been having some server issues tonight, so I want to apologize in advance for any technical issues. Initially, you’d think Wofford might be a bit of a cake walk but let me assure you this will be anything but. Wofford was up by 13 against Pitt in the second half in their last game. They’re a hot shooting team who light it up from range. Georgia has been quite the opposite. They’ve struggled with field goal percentage but had a phenomenal night rebounding last Friday against New Orleans. Will Georgia slow the pace down, take Wofford out of a rhythm and pound the glass or will Coach Fox see if he can get the Dawgs into a good shooting rhythm? We’ll find out in about 7:20.

A couple more things to note before the game. 1. I have a miniflip HD camera in my possession. I’m playing around with it quite a lot because it is so awesome. Chances of me missing something while I’m messing around are very high. 2. I’m sitting in the press area above the locker room rather than on the baseline. I don’t like it. 3. Umm. I forgot. I was playing with the camera. I’ll let you know if I remember.

Terriers:
Junior Salters
Corey Godzinski
Noah Dahlman
Cameron Rundles
Brad Loesing

Dawgs:
Dustin “Dimes” Ware
Ricky McThree
Travis “Trampoline” Leslie
Chris “The Hulk” Barnes
Trey “(Insert Nickname Here)” Thompkins

Just remembered what I was going to say. There are about 50 people in the student section.

Post Game Thoughts UGA Vs AU

The Georgia Bulldogs have beaten Auburn for the 4th consecutive year with a 31-24 victory in Sanford Stadium tonight. It is the first time since the 1940s that the Dawgs have beaten the Tigers four straight years. It was not easy by any means. After the end of the first quarter, the dawgs were losing 14-0. Things got even worse when AJ Green was injured and could not return to play. However, the Dawgs found many playmakers tonight. Washaun Ealey finished with 98 yards and a touchdown. Caleb King had 67 yards for two touchdowns. Georgia won this game tonight with heart on defense and toughness on offense. The heart of the Dawg has never been more apparent than it was when Bacarri Rambo literally put himself on the line to save what could have been a game tying touchdown for Georgia.

Georgia wins the tough football game in a tough way, the Georgia Way. (more…)

GAME UPDATES: FINAL SCORE:   GEORGIA-31  AUBURN-24

Well how about this! After Rambo was carted off the field, it was Coach Richt and his staff jumping up and down waving their arms in a plea for the Dawg fans to get loud. And it worked. Georgia got a sack on Chris Todd to make it 4th and 18. Auburn then committed a false start penalty forcing the Tigers to gain 23 yards to avoid losing to the Georgia Bulldogs for a fourth straight year. The Dawgs break up the play and beat Auburn.

Postgame thoughts are forthcoming. (more…)

Moments from The Oldest Rivalry in the South

In just mere hours, the Oldest Rivalry in The South will be renewed when toe meets leather as The Auburn Tigers visit Sanford Stadium to battle the Georgia Bulldogs. The storied history in this rivalry is impressive, especially when you understand how a successful season for Georgia or Auburn is contingent upon a victory over the other.

Many famous Georgia moments have happened against the Tigers. As we all prepare for what seems to be a very even matchup with two teams that hate each others guts, lets take a stroll down memory lane and see some of the greatest plays in Georgia vs. Auburn history. Enjoy! (more…)

Bitter Rivals…right?

As I entered the Tate Plaza yesterday, I saw a very odd sight. One of Auburn’s mascots, Aubie the Tiger, was standing on the main stage shaking hands with Hairy Dawg. The stranger thing was that students in the plaza were applauding. I looked around for the guillotine but couldn’t find one. Why were these students clapping our Deep South’s Oldest Rival? I then saw a sign that said something about improving the relationship between Auburn and Georgia. I initially thought this just meant Joe Cox would continue to throw interceptions, but then realized it was some initiative towards the fans. What?

Welcome back to Stegeman Coliseum for another WUOG live-blog. I’ll be here documenting the infamous Billy Humphrey’s return to Athens. For some reason, he’s listed as projected “Off the Bench” for the Privateers. That could be because of his knee injury but after seeing him move in warmups, I seriously doubt that will be a factor. I’ll be updating 5 times per half. Brace yourselves.

Connor Nolte hit me with a tip: there are new nets at Stegeman Coliseum. “They suck,” said Nolte. I was unaware that nets could suck but I also added an “h” to Ebuka.

I just stood through the longest national anthem in history. I think I see someone from Guinness here.

Pregame National Athem. Look! Nolte and Bucklin are on the court!

I went over to the practice facilities at Stegeman Coliseum today to clear up a few things that I wondered from the live-blog last week. Here are a few notes and thoughts with some audio at the end (including Matt Bucklin’s interview virginity!) (more…)

Drew Bonner from WEGL 91.1 FM joins Heatin’ Up to preview the Georgia vs. Auburn game this weekend.

Note: the ambient clicking you may hear is a result of my computer freezing and me desperately trying to get them back. I’m not sure if you can hear the deep sigh of relief when it unfronze.

Can you feel the tension in the air? Can you sense the irritation and disregard coming? The endless conversations and the 8 million different ways to fix the BCS? Yup, it’s bowl season. Now that teams are starting to wrap up conference title spots (or not in the minor-league conferences) it’s time for a little projecting. (more…)
