Arkansas vs. UGA Live Blog

Hey everyone. It’s Robert Inskip here with you again, back at Foley Field. Tonight we’ve got the #5 Arkansas Razorbacks going up against the #1 Georgia Bulldogs. This is a match up between the leaders of the SEC West and SEC East, respectively.  Trevor Holder [RHP], a senior from Birmingham, Alabama, gets the start for the Dawgs. For the Hogs it will be Dallas Keuchel [LHP], a junior from Tulsa, Oklahoma. The starting line ups can be seen below. As usual, updates will be posted every half inning.

Bottom 9th, Ark 3, UGA 3: Jonathan Taylor, pinch hitting for Fuller, reaches base with a walk. During Hyams’s at-bat, Taylor begins a steal attempt, but stops half way to second base. The throw of catcher Ryan Cisterna (who replaced House) gets through to the outfield, however, and Taylor takes second base on the error. Hyams chases a low pitch by Bolsinger for strike three. The ball hits the ground but Cisterna throws Hyams out at first base for the out. Bolsinger then walks Demperio. Stephen Richards [LHP] replaces Bolsinger. Cerione hits a walk-off single into left-center field that makes it to the fence, as Taylor scores to end the game. The Georgia players run out and swarm Cerione. The Dawgs end the game with eight hits and one error. The Hogs finish with seven hits and two errors. The final score is Ark 3, UGA 4.

Top 9th, Ark 3, UGA 3: Harvil gets Wilkins to strike out swinging for the first out of the inning. Eibner then grounds out to third base, as May fields the ball off of one hop and throws to first base. Cox reaches base with a single into center field. He then steals second base during Kuhn’s at-bat. Kuhn hits a ground ball to Hyams, who misshandles it. Cox tries to score from second base, but is thrown out at home by Hyams. An error was assigned to Hyams on the play. Each team now has three runs, seven hits, and one error. Ark 3, UGA 3.

Bottom 8th, Ark 3, UGA 3: Mike Bolsinger [RHP] comes in to pitch for the Hogs, replacing Keuchel. Massanari hits a single over the head of Lyons and into left-center field. Peter Verdin comes in to pinch run for Massanari. Lewis tries to check his swing but goes to far, as Bolsinger gets his first strike out of the game. Allen then hits a ground ball to Tschepikow, who tags Verdin and throws to first base to complete the 4-3 double play to end the inning. Ark 3, UGA 3.

Top 8th, Ark 3, UGA 3: A huge cheer erupts from the fans at Foley as it is announced that the Gym Dawgs have won another national title. Harvil gets off to a good start in the inning, as he gets Leavitt and Lyons to strike out swinging. Then, Poythress stops Tsechepikow’s ground ball and flips to Harvil, who covers first base for the out. Ark 3, UGA 3.

Bottom 7th, Ark 3, UGA 3: The shortstop Lyons makes a nice diving stop on Cerione’s ground ball. He then throws to first, where Wilkins makes the scoop to get Cerione, who dives head first into the bag. May then grounds out to Keuchel. Poythress fouls out to end the inning, as his pop up is caught by Wilkins in foul territory down the right side. Ark 3, UGA 3.

Top 7th, Ark 2, UGA 3: Holder walks Wilkins on four pitches to start the inning. UGA pitching coach Brady Wiederhold comes out for a meeting on the mound. Eibner hits a short pop up. Poythress calls off Holder and makes the catch for the first out of the inning. Cox then strikes out swinging on a nice inside pitch from Holder. Kuhn hits a ground ball single into left field. Wilkins stops at second base. Will Harvil [RHP] replaces Holder on the mound for the Dawgs. Carver hits a single into right field. Fuller’s throw to home is not in time, as Wilkins scores from second base to tie the game at three. House, who is pinch hitting for McCann, strikes out swinging. Ark 3, UGA 3.

Bottom 6th, Ark 2, UGA 3: Lewis hits a towering fly ball that’s caught by Eibner for the first out. Allen then strikes out swinging. Second baseman Tsechepikow mishandles Fuller’s ground ball. It is ruled a single. Hyams then hits a groundball single into right field. Demperio hits a long fly ball, exciting some of the fans here at Foley, but Eibner makes the catch to end the inning. Ark 2, UGA 3.

Top 6th, Ark 2, UGA 3: After reaching a full count, Leavitt hits a ground ball back at Holder, who fields it off of one hop and throws to first base for the out. Poythress fields Lyons’s ground ball while running to his right. He flips to Holder who covers first base for the out. Tsechepikow hits a hard  groundball to shortstop, but Hyams handles it and throws to first base to retire the side. Ark 2, UGA 3.

Bottom 5th, Ark 2, UGA 3: Keuchel has a quick one-two-three inning. He gets both May and Poythress to strike out swinging. Massanari then grounds out to third. Ark 2, UGA 3.

Top 5th, Ark 1, UGA 3: Cox is hit by the first pitch of the fifth inning. He advances to second base on a passed ball during Kuhn’s at bat. Kuhn has a bunt single to the left side of the infield, as May fielded the ball but did not have time to throw to first base. Cox advances to third base on the play to give the Hogs runners at the corners with no outs. Carver hits a fly ball into deep right-center field. Cerione makes a nice diving catch. Cox tags up and scores on the play. Kuhn tries to steal second base during McCann’s at-bat but is thrown out by Lewis. McCann then grounds out to shortstop for the third out. Ark 2, UGA 3.

Bottom 4th, Ark 1, UGA 3: Keuchel gets Fuller to strike out swinging. Hyams then reaches third base on a double and an error. He hit a bloop shot into right center. The right fielder Leavitt almost makes a great diving catch after charging in but can’t come up with it. The throw is wild and goes all the way to the end of foul territory on the third base side. Demperio then grounds out to shortstop for the second out. Cerione hits a line drive that is snared by Wilkins to end the inning. Ark 1, UGA 3.

Top 4th, Ark 1, UGA 3: Demperio makes an outstanding play for the first out of the inning. He lays out to his left to field a ground ball hit by Tsechepikow before throwing to first for the out. Holder then gets Wilkins and Eibner to strike out swinging to complete another one-two-three inning. Ark 1, UGA 3.

Bottom 3rd, Ark 1, UGA 3: Poythress hits a soft ground ball to the pitcher. Keuchel comes off the mound to his right, fields the ball, and throws to first for the out. Massanari then grounds out to third base. Lewis becomes a two-out base runner with a single that lands in shallow left field. Allen grounds out to second base for the third out. Ark 1, UGA 3.

Top 3rd, Ark 1, UGA 3: McCann is the first out of the inning as his pop up is caught in foul ground by the first baseman Poythress. Leavitt then hits a soft ground ball to third base. May fields the ball and throws on the run to get the out. Holder then gets Lyons to fly out to left field to complete his second straight one-two-three inning. Ark 1, UGA 3.

Bottom 2nd, Ark 1, UGA 3: Fuller leads off the inning with an infield single. It was a soft ground ball down the third base line. Keuchel waited to see if the ball would roll foul but it stopped on the infield grass instead. Hyams also hits a short ground ball, but he is thrown out at first base by the catcher McCann. Demperio works a walk, giving the Dawgs runners at first and second base with one out. Cerione grounds out to shortstop, as the first baseman Wilkins makes a nice stretch to recieve the throw. May hits a high-bouncing ground ball. Keuchel fields it and throws to first base to end the inning. Ark 1 UGA 3.

Top 2nd, Ark 1, UGA 3: The second inning goes much smoother for Holder. He gets both Cox and Kuhn to strike out swinging to start the inning. Carver then grounds out to shortstop for the third out. Ark 1, UGA 3.

Bottom 1st, Ark 1, UGA 0: Cerione leads off for the Dawgs with a walk. May hits a pop up that’s caught in foul territory down the right field line for the first out. Keuchel then walks Poythress. Massanari then hits a three-run homer high over the left field fence for the Dawgs’ first hit of the game. Lewis grounds out to shortstop, as does Allen. Ark 1, UGA 3.

Top 1st, Ark 0, UGA 0: Leavitt works a full count before grounding out to second base. Demperio made the play moving to his left, then flipped the ball underhanded to first base for the out. Lyons then flies out to shallow center field for the second out. Tsechepikow blasts a solo home run to dead center field for the first run of the game. With a full count, Wilkins hits a bloop single into shallow center field. Eibner then gives the Hogs their third straight hit with a gound ball single into left field. During Cox’s at-bat, UGA catcher Joey Lewis picks Eibner off of first base for the third out. Ark 1, UGA 0.

    You guys do a very good job on the in game baseball blog.I am out of state and it is a good way for me to follow the game.I wish you would have done todays Arkansas game,I couldn’t find the score any where.The game has been over for an hour and espn still doesn’t have the score posted yet.

    Sorry we couldn’t help you out today. Georgia won the game with another walk off hit in the 9th, 4-3. Check back tomorrow, we’ll be back to our blogging ways.
