It’s Matt Ryan here to bring you the first part of today’s doubleheader between the Winthrop Eagles and Georgia Bulldogs. Today’s starting pitchers are Jason Lever (Georgia) and Ken Monteith (Winthrop). Check back tonight for an audio recap of the game.

Bottom of 9th, Winthrop 7 , Georgia 1: Joey Lewis (Dh) walks. Colby May (3b) hit by pitch. Levi Hyams singles as Lewis goes to third and May goes to 2nd. Hyams avdances on a wild pitch and Lewis scores. Michael Demperio (2b) hits a fly out to Sean Sullivan (Rf). John Taylor strikes out on an 0-3 count. Matt Cerione (Cf) hits a two run single as May and Hyams score. Rich Poythress (1b) grounds out to end the game. Final Score: Winthrop 7 , Georgia 4

Top 9th, Winthrop 6, UGA 1: Earl Daniels is the Bulldogs new pticher. Sean Sullivan (Rf) flies out to 3rd base. Tyler McBride (Cf) singles to first when Michael Demperio (2b) commits an error. Aaron Bonomi pops out to Levi Hyams (SS). Mcbridge advances to 2nd on a throwing error and Lewis scores. Cam Walters hits a single and Mcbridge scores. Kevin Nolan (Dh) is up to bat. Walters is caught stealing.

Bottom 8th, Winthrop 6, UGA 1: Michael Demperio singles. Demperio steals 2nd. John Taylor pinch hits for Verdin and hits a line out to Mizenko (P). Matt Cerione (Cf) is walked. Rich Poythress (1b) grounds out to first as Demperio and Cerione each advance a base. Bryce Massanari (C) is walked. Two outs and the bases are loaded for the Bulldogs. Chase Davis pinch hits for Cone and grounds out to first.

Top 8th, Winthrop 5, UGA 1: Cecil Tanner is the Bulldogs new pitcher. Matt Thielepape (3B) grounds out to third. Cam Walters strikes out on a 3-2 count. Kevin Nolan (SS) singles. Nolan steals 2nd base. Eddie Rohan (Dh) hits an RBI single as Nolan scores the 6th run of the game for Winthrop. Eddie Tisdale (1b) doubles and Rohan advances to 3rd base. John Murrian (C) is walked on a 4-1 count. Bryn Henderson (2b) hits a fly out to center field.

Bottom 7th: Winthrop 5, UGA 0: Cam Walters moves to left field and Tyler McBride comes in for Chas Crane at center field. The line drive from Matt Cerione (Cf) is caught by Eddie Tisdale (1b). Rich Poythress (1b) is walked on a full count. Bryce Massanari hits a double  down left center field and Poythress advances to third. Ken Monteith (P) is pulled for Greg Hough (P) after giving up 2 hits in 6 and 1/3 innings. Zach Cone pinch hits for Lyle Allen (Lf) and grounds out to 3rd base. Joey Lewis pinch hits for Adam Fuller and is walked. Greg Hough (P) is substituted for Tyler Mizenko (P), this is the Eagles third pitcher used in this inning. Colby May (3b) singles, Lewis gets to 2nd, Massanari gets to 3rd, and Poythress scores the Dawgs first run. Levi Hyams (SS) strikes out.

Top 7th, Winthrop 5, UGA, 0: John Murrian (C) strikes out on an 0-3 count. Bryn Henderson flies out to Peter Verdin (Rf). Sean Sullivan (Rf) walks to first. Chas Crane (Lf) grounds out to Bryn Henderson (2b).

Bottom 6th, Winthrop 5, UGA 0: Levi Hyams (SS) grounds out to Kevin Nolan (SS). Robbie O’ Bryant pinch hits for David Thomas and grounds out to Kevin Nolan (SS). Peter Verdin (Rf) flies out to right center field.

Top 6th, Winthrop 4, UGA 0: Matt Thielepape (3b) walks to first. Lyle Allen (Lf) slams in to the  foul zone wall going after a fly ball, but stays in the game. Cam Walters (Cf) singles and Bryce Massanari throws an error that allows Thielepape to advance to third. Kevin Nolan lines out to right field as Thielepape scores for the Eagles. This is Thielepape’s 2nd run of the game. Walters steals 2nd. Eddie Rohan (Dh) strikes out for the 2nd out. Eddie Tisdale (1b) grounds out to Levi Hyams (SS) to end the top of the 6th.

Bottom 5th, Winthrop 4, UGA 0: Lyle Allen’s (Lf) line drive is caught in center field by Cam Walters. Adam Fuller (Dh) is grounds out to Matt Thielepape at 3rd base. Colby May grounds out to Kevin Nolan (SS).

Top 5th, Winthrop 4, UGA 0: Eddie Tisdale (1b) grounds out to Eddie Esmonde (P). John Murrian (C) is hit by a pitch. Bryn Henderson (2b) singles to right and Murrian advances to 2nd. Sean Sullivan flies out to right field. Michael Pallazone (P) comes in to releive Eddie Esmonde (P) for the Bulldog’s second pitching change of the game. Chas Crane (Lf) strikes out on a full count.

Bottom 4th, Winthrop 4, UGA 0: Peter Verdin’s singles towards the short stop and makes it to 1st on a tight call for the Bulldog’s 1st hit of the game. Matt Cerione (Cf) grounds out to 1st as Verdin advances to 2nd. Rich Poythress (1b) hits a line drive to right field that is caught by Sean Sullivan for the 2nd out. Bryce Massanari strikes out to end the inning.

Top 4th, Winthrop 3, UGA 0: Matt Thielepape (3b) hits a homerun single in to the left feild trees. Cam Walters strikes out. Kevin Nolan grounds out to third base. Eddie Rohan’s line drive is caught by Lyle Allen (Lf).

Bottom 3rd, Winthrop 3, UGA 0: Colby May (3b) grounds out to 1st. Levy Hyams (SS) line drive to left field is caught by Chas Crane (lf). David Thoms (2b) is flied out at 2nd base. After 3 innings Winthrop has 7 hits  to 0 hits from Georgia.

Top 3rd, Winthrop 0, UGA 0: Cam Walters (Cf) singles as David Thoms (2b) commits an error. Kevin Nolan bunts to 1st base and a throwing error by the pticher advances Nolan to 2nd and Walters to third. Eddie Rohan’s lien drive is caught by Peter Verdin as Cam Walters scores the Eagles’s first run. Eddie Tisdale (1b) flies out to left field and Kevin Nolan scores the Eagles 2nd run. Jason Lever (P) is pulled for Eddie Esmonde (P) after 2 and 2/3 innings. John Murrian (C) hits a single down the left field line. Byrn Henderson singles down centerfield and Murrian advances to third. Sean Sullivan hits a single down right field, Murrian scores for the Eagles third run of the inning, and Henderson advances. Chas Crane (lf) is out at first for out number three.

Bottom 2nd, Winthrop 0, UGA 0: Bryce Massanari (C) pops out to Kevin Nolan (SS) for out number one. Lyle Allen (Lf) is walked on a full count, this is the Bulldog’s first time on base today. Adam Fuller (Dh) strikes out on a 3-2 count and Allen is caught stealing for the 2nd inning’s final out.

Top 2nd, Winthrop 0, UGA 0: Line drive by Bryn Henderson (2b) is caught by Verdin. Sean Sullivan (Rf) hits a single down centerfield. Chas Crane’s line drive to left field is caught by Lyle Allen, and was close to the wall for a homerun. Matt Thielepape’s line drive to left field is caught by Lyle Allen.
