Kelly Pratt, a multi-instrumentalist or better known as the musical architect of Bright Moments, spent the winter of 2010 in his New York City apartment combining the sounds of flugelhorns, trumpets, pianos, flutes and synthesizers with his poetically inspired lyrics, thus creating his newest album, Natives. Though many may be unfamiliar with Bright Moment’s latest album, Natives, the instrumentals, however, may ring a bell. From the trumpet heard in many of Beirut’s songs to the flugelhorn and flute that ties together Arcade Fire’s album Neon Bible, Pratt has passed his talent through various indie pop artist. Nevertheless, Natives’ nine tracks bring something new to the table. The eclectic background sounds, however many there may be, all tie together to complement the melody and Pratt’s soothing vocals. His serene melody, electronic beats, and instrumental collision produce an addicting album that just can’t be turned off.
