Yes, they are named the same as the book, and yes they came through our lobby for a live performance plus interview that expanded more on the significance of the name as well as in-depth questions that you really should just hit play and hear for yourself. Heavy Pets AND Modern Skirts 2-16-12

Another two-for-one special of live performances here at the WU. First things first, hailing from South Florida, you got the fellas of Heavy Pets coming through for some afternoon live aural goodness. They are performing tonight at Georgia Theatre along with Dank Sinatra & The Suex Effect. Can’t get enough of them, you can check them out here.

Elsewhere, we had one of the Classic City’s sweethearts in Modern Skirts swing by with a very laid back set along with a very in-depth interview talking about everything from former record labels to even hyphy that you just gotta hear for yourself. You may have seen him on the video (TRRUUUUEEE!!), you may have heard him on the radio (TRRUUUUEEE!!). But Kishi Bashi graced our airwaves right on time for Valentine’s Day with a live set that was all about love fused with violins, looping, and even beatboxing. He’ll actually be performing this coming Friday Feb. 17th along with his comrades, Athens favorite’s Of Montreal at Georgia Theatre and gearing up for his first official solo project dropping in April. If the patience is wearing thin and the anticipation is running at an all-time high, you can check him out at his official site and hit play over and over on the performance/interview to hold you over. Jamband fans unite and bear witness to the first-ever live performance on Party at Your Momma’s House featuring Classic City’s-own Juice Box. Two LITL performances in one day AND on a Friday? Yeah, it actually happened. Kicking it off with a group from St. Louis, MO though their name suggests otherwise, Kentucky Knife Fight. They came all the way from Gainesville, FL to come through to the WU and perform with another show to attend in Alabama that night and finishing up their trek in Nashville, TN the following night. For round 2, we had Already Taken (not to be confused with that Trey Songz song) swing by with a live 30+ minute set. You may not be familiar with the group, but may be familiar with their parents (B-52s anyone?) But they are not looking to ride on the coattails of their parents and are well on their way of marking their own path here in the Classic City and beyond. He’ll be performing along with this Bastilles comrades Feb. 23rd along with recent LITL performer Emily Hearn at the Melting Point.
