Trapper’s Cabin with MTM – (9/22/2009)

About Trapper’s Cabin: He’s the crazy old man in the mountains. I’ve heard the stories – he’s alive up there still. One man alone in the mountains of North Georgia, his multiple personalities and voices take over to create beautiful rivers of sound which flow through one ear and proceed to the deep deep valleys of your mind – continuing out your other ear and on to the next lucky contestant!

About MTM: MTM began working on music in early November of 2008 after Xak placed an ad looking for a new band. The ad was answered by Jordan Ososki who then contacted Joel Nettesheim, a friend and partner musician over the years. MTM got together for their first jam session in january of 2009 after months of talking back and forth between Jordan and Xak, and several scheduling issues that delayed the process. The musical influences range from various artist and musicians anywhere from the early 1960’s to the late 1990’s. MTM is all about writing good music and playing shows that give the crowd no choice but to have a good time. MTM practices twice a week to keep the music tight and the creative juices flowing to constantly create new music that everyone can enjoy.

With a few pop-stoner guitar riffs, some witty bass lines, a spot-on set of skins, one piano, several horns, and a lap slide guitar, It’s Elephant’s will blow your mind. Literally. (Okay, maybe not literally.)

Captain Number 1 – (4/23/2009)

Captain Number 1 began as sounds echoing out of the everglades into abandoned farmhouses and trailer homes along the sides of state roads. Those songs slowly made their way through south Florida till they crawled inside a man.

Quiet Hooves, local Athens band, plays in our lobby. Quiet Hooves play pop songs of a sort but make use of impressively thick textural spaces, of arrangements that refuse the basic geometries of the radio-friendly and bored.

Marriage – (9/4/2008)

Marriage, a local Athens band, plays live in our lobby.

In the best way, there neither is, nor has ever been, anything in this world like Marriage, and it’s this tragically underrated footprint that makes Ebenezer’s release even more important. Sure, the band’s novel (read: alien) approach may make them hard to swallow on a mainstream level. But for those who can commit to Marriage, it’s happily ever after, to honor and cherish, as long as this band shall live.”
