Who doesn’t love a good cover band? How about a Cuban salsa band that covers Misfits songs? It’s even better than it sounds. These guys and gal fuse latin music with horror punk, while playing with maracas taped to their hands. Plus they have an upright base. You can’t fully appreciate the genius of it all until you take a listen.

These Atlanta natives dish out some pretty awesome psychedelic folk/southern goodness. Known for their raucous live shows they sure know how to throw down. Here’s what happened when they shared the (percussion driven) love with WUOG.

Rarely do I find that I belong to the acoustic guitar camps that I should probably be grouped in. I’ve heard a thing or two by the necessary masters, but (and whether or not this limits me, time will probably tell) I find that I don’t quite enjoy sitting and listening to that style too often. In turn, I take inspiration in the form of a challenge. The most significant improvements I’ve made as guitarist have come through discovering something that is just out reach of my fingertips, writing something based around it, and making my hands find a way to play it. Ever so slowly, it’s gotten to the point where I’d consider it to be listenable. All I ask is that you listen how you please, and hear what resonates with you. Once it’s in your ears, it’s yours if you like…

The phrase, “Hardest working band in America”, gets tossed around so much these days, that the idea has become almost cliché. However, if there is anyone who evokes the true spirit of the boundlessly determined, rock’n’roll road warriors, it is the Winter Sounds. Hailing from the southern stronghold of independent music, Athens, GA, the Winter Sounds have toured for over four years, bringing their eclectic, avant-garde, Brit-inspired electro-pop to neighborhood bars, clubs and theaters across the country.

Wowser Bowser says “Get Naked”
“‘To the Pleasant Life!” intones Pettis, sounding like Bowser if he was actually Charles Foster Kane, and Mario was this plumber that reminded him of the solitary despondency of wealth. But then Mario becomes a charity project, invited to “kick it” and get on a train like it was before sunrise on a bucket list. Juxtaposed with the mdma bubbles they’re embedded in it comes off like a spirit guide on the world of tomorrow ride at epcot, layering gurgling synths on top of what sounds like a keytar if it were actually a guitar shaped like a korg. Just don’t call him twee, he might cry a tear in the shape of a K.” -Discount Coupon
