This week we’re honoring Spencer McGuire as our staffer of the week! Spencer is on Digital Media, Archiving, and News staffs and definitely shines on all three. He is always willing to help film and edit Live in the Lobby footage, has cataloged about 147 items in our archives, and is a contributor to the News staff’s broadcasts. It’s only his first semester at UGA from Georgia State, but he has already proven himself to be one of the most valuable staffers we have.

We asked him a few questions to get to know him!

1. Name?
Spencer McGuire

2. Childhood nickname?
My 8th grade math class had two Spencers, and since neither of us were used to it, I was renamed Toby. Because Toby McGuire.

3. Year?
Junior

4. Major?
Journalism

5. What does WUOG mean to you?
WUOG has been an amazing place to meet new people and kind of see what it’s like to do what I want to do after college, before being out of college. Half a semester in and I’m loving it, so, thumbs up, man.

6. Sign?
Zodiac sign: Libra. Peace sign: Yes.

7. Favorite specialty show?
Conspiratorium is so, so awesome.

8. Favorite album of all time?
Drink The Sea by The Glitch Mob is one of the few full albums in my library where I loved each and every single track and they’re all still kicking around in my shuffle-land.

9. Toe socks or no socks?
No socks, because when I wear no socks, I wear flip flops.

10. If you could throw cold spaghetti at anyone, who would it be and why?
Matthew Gray Gubler, no question. I feel like he’d find it pretty cool and it’d be a great thing for us to bond over.

11. What was the last thing you bought?
I treated myself to a lovely new RX 480 recently. Alternatively, I ate Chick-Fil-A today.

12. Favorite Chrome extension?
Mightytext should just be preinstalled in Chrome because boy, am I sometimes too lazy to just text using my phone.

13. Favorite pattern?
I’ve got this great shirt that I’ve heard described as a grid of “paper towel perforations”, but it totally looks like a generic black shirt from a normal distance.

14. One song you could listen to for the rest of your life?
I can never skip Forever Pt. II by Snakehips whenever it comes on, hopefully that won’t change for the next hypothetical rest of my life.
