Today we have “One Half”, a new single from ambient artist Julianna Barwick off her upcoming album Nepenthe. It’s notable that this time around Julianna’s voice rises from a slight whisper to full on clear singing. There are actual lyrics here, believe it or not. That’s not to say this is some grandiose statement of intent, her voice and her intentionally simplistic words are just another piece of the soundscape. The repetitive nature of the lyrics and the way her vocals are layered on top of each other feels like a natural progression of her bright, ethereal sound.
