Wye Oak lead singer Jenn Wasner has a powerful voice but not one you would ever really expect to hear in a straight up pop-song. Well, Wasner has teamed up with musician John Ehrens to form Dungeonesse, a pop/r&b project that has the potential to be something very special. Their first single “Drive You Crazy” is a glitchy dance track that Wasner completely runs with. She’s so competent in this role that it’s not too farfetched to imagine this becoming just as important to her career as Wye Oak is (though its really too early to tell). Next to Solange Knowles’ star-making re-invention earlier this year, Dungeonesse might be one of the biggest surprises of 2012.
