SONG OF THE DAY: Marnie Stern – “Nothing is Easy”
Today we have the third single from Marnie Stern’s upcoming album The Chronicles of Marnia and while the first two singles were a little more subdued and lowkey, “Nothing is Easy” showcases more of the kickass guitar shredding that Marnie is known for. The song starts with some instantly memorable rapid-fire licks before opening up into some Karen O-esque melodies with accompanying oohs and aahs. The song tackles various anxieties of life and dealing with others but in a revelatory fashion that makes it seem like everything you’re worrying about might just turn out okay tomorrow. Marnie is in command here, perhaps more than ever before and the result is the most glorious rock anthem of 2013 so far.
