SONG OF THE DAY: Iceage – “Ecstasy”
“Ecstasy” is the second single off Danish punk band Iceage’s upcoming sophomore album You’re Nothing and it’s a beautiful mess. With a key juxtaposition of unusually soulful and pained vocals from lead singer Elias Bender Ronnenfelt against a wall of screeching guitars and percussion. It’s a daring new sound for Iceage and while on paper this idea might seem cheesy or unnecessary, in practice its a revelation that elevates a simple punk band to new and more interesting heights.
