Come to Cine this Friday night and celebrate a great year at the station’s annual holiday party! The night will kick off at 8 p.m. with an awards banquet honoring super sweet staffers and incoming/outgoing execs, with tons of free candy and desserts for everybody to get hyper on. Following the banquet at 9 p.m. will be live performances from Casper and the Cookies, Supercluster, and The Humms! Come dressed to impressed in your favorite festive sweater or holiday attire!
WUOG will be participating in the Athens Holiday Parade this Thursday evening as a “novelty performance ensemble” consisting of staffers and friends playing on random acoustic instruments as we parade down the streets of downtown! We can’t wait to reach out to all the families and community members living in Athens by passing out promo presents that will help them remember us forever! Come on out to downtown Athens this Thursday evening at 7 p.m. to see holiday floats, marching bands, dancers, fire-breathers… and lights, lots of lights!

This Battle of the Bands or ‘Faceoff’ is an adapted idea from local Athens event called Athens Faceoff created by Jeff Tobias. Basically, we are going to have 8-10 musicians from the Athens community and the WUOG/UGA community who may or (most likely) may not know each other. They all come to the station at 6:45pm and are assigned randomly into two different bands. The first band will have a mere 45 minutes to create a short 15 minute set to be performed LIVE on the air at 8pm!!!! Then the same will happen with the second band who will perform at 9pm!!! Tune into to hear the madness and creative genius of our musicians put into pressure cooker new situations with strangers!
