WUOG was born on October 16th, 1972 at 2 pm, meaning we are now 37 years old!!

Come out to Cine (234 W. Hancock Ave.) at 8 pm to experience a once in a lifetime performance of HALLOWEEN: LIVE!  Halloween Live is a screening of John Carpenter’s 1978 classic “Halloween” with its soundtrack, dialogue, and sound effects recreated by a cast of local musicians and voice actors. Following Halloween Live will be performances by two local bands, THE AGENDA and BAMBARA!

The event is free, but a suggested $3-5 donation would be so kind of you so that we can help out our buds over at AIDS ATHENS!

AIDS Athens mission is to serve and address the needs of individuals infected and affected by HIV/AIDS through supportive services and to prevent the spread of the disease through education and outreach.  AIDS Athens vision is to enhance and enrich the quality of life for those living with HIV/AIDS, as well as their friends, families and partners. The organization also seeks to effect a fundamental change in society’s attitude toward persons infected with HIV/AIDS. For more information, visit www.aidsathens.org.

Pride Prade and Baclavaca have made tracks available for free download. You can find these tracks on the Local Music blog. If you didn’t know, WUOG is now accepting Digital Download Submissions from Georgia bands. Bands give WUOG the tracks and WUOG gives them to you. We love local music and want you to love our favorite local artists. We’ve received quite a few tracks and are still sorting through them – if yours isn’t posted yet, don’t despair!

We have also been improving our archive of Live in the Lobby recordings. These recordings are also available for download. Check out this live performance of Venice is Sinking from 2006! WUOG loves Athens Music!

Sorry for the inconvenience, but we’re having issues with serving files over 90mb. This means some specialty show streams will not be working.

We’ve discovered the problem and are working to resolve it.

Submit Local Music for Digital Download

Posted by: wuog
Oct 04 2009 12:10 pm

Some of the best music in the world comes from the Athens / Atlanta / Georgia area, and WUOG has spent the past 37 years promoting that music heritage. We are now pleased to announce a new way for artists to promote their music by submitting tracks to wuog.org for download.

Any artist based in Georgia can submit a full-length track that they wish to distribute for free. WUOG will pick the best and post them online as a free download for users.

This is a brand new service, so we do not have any free songs yet. We’ll let you know when the first batch comes out. Until then, submit your local band’s music!
