Turns out this was a viral marketing campaign by Cardo Wireless, a bluetooth headset manufacturer. The kernels were digitally deleted and the popped kernels were dropped from off camera.

The World Yo-Yoing Contest is held every year in Florida, around early August. The contest is seperated into 5 divisions, and this is division 4A, or “offstring”, where competitors yo with the yo unattached from the string. Coincidentally, this is similar to what you’d find in Cirque Du Soleil. You know, those crazy Chinese girls with their diabolos.
