Christmas Freebies!
The internet giveth generously during the holidays. Right now I’m enjoying two gifts:
First, a free stream of Andrew Bird’s yet-unreleased instrumental album Useless Creatures–well, instrumental if you don’t count the whistling. If you enjoy beautiful violin playing or the idea of instrumental indie appeals to you, catch this within the next three days, while it’s still free on the intertubes. The album will be released in a deluxe edition set alongside his much anticipated follow-up to Armchair Apocrypha, Noble Beast, on January 20th.
Second: Urban Outfitters is giving away free 10-issue subscriptions to Nylon Magazine. No strings attached, and according to some folks who did it last year, it’s totally legit. Nylon is one of my favorite magazines; it covers pop culture and fashion with a hipster-ish slant. (And we’re honest about our hipster-ish slant here; we are a college radio station after all!) It also offers some slick layout and design eye candy.
