The local music department follows the Georgia music scene (primarily Athens/Atlanta) to program local artists, as well as producing live performances of local acts at the station. We screen local music, book artists for station remotes, and help out with other Athens' events involving local musicians. Twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) we welcome an Athens band into the studio for Live in the Lobby

It isn't every day you find practical applications for your odd obsessions...unless you happen to be a member of WUOG-FM's music staff. With their expansive knowledge of non-mainstream, non-commercial music, the music staff helps shape the sound of progressive radio. Music staffers are responsible for previewing all varieties of new music and deciding what's worthy of airplay on 90.5 FM.

WUOG's News staff does on-the-hour news updates several times every weekday, in addition to After the Facts every Wednesday night at 5pm, and Athens Journal every Friday night at 4:30 pm.

Operations staff is a vital part of WUOG. Staff members are involved in the upkeep of equipment, the organization of station property, and other tasks that help make WUOG more user-friendly.

Like the old saying goes: you'll never have a problem promoting a great product. At 90.5 fm we promote our programming - music, news, sports, and special events of public interest. We create all the signs and banners you see around campus as well as the on-air promotional recordings. Promotions staff in also responsible for maintaining the webpage, publishing the semesterly program guide, creating the staff / alumni newsletter Airwaves, and producing live shows down at Tate Center and around town.

The Public Affairs department is responsible of creating and airing talk shows, public service announcements and other non-music programming at WUOG. The department also host a social event each semester to benefit a local charity. 2011 is going to be an exciting year in the Public Affairs department, so stay tuned and stay active!

The sports department covers local sporting events, as well as University sports events and recreational activities. There are 7 weekly shows, Monday - Friday 5-6, Wednesday 7-8am and Sunday 12-1pm. WUOG sports is the proud home of Georgia Soccer, providing the live play-by-play for numerous games in the fall.

We are always looking for new volunteers! In order to volunteer for WUOG you must be a full-time student at the University of Georgia or a part-time student who has paid the semester student activities fee. No prior experience in radio or journalism is required; WUOG will teach you everything you need to know.
